Cleaning Quilt Bedding

Quilts can be hand washed either in a bathtub or a bucket, depending on its size. To machine wash the quilt, run the quilt in in warm and gentle cycle. Use a mild detergent to remove dirt. Do not add any other clothing or soft furnishing items in the washing machine while running the quilt.

Cleaning instructions

  • Before soaking the quilt in water, shake the quilt to dust out loose dirt.
  • After dusting the quilt fill the bathtub or sink with luke warm water and add a mild detergent. Soak the quilt in water for few minutes to 30 minutes, depending on the amount of dirt accumulated in the quilt.
  • After soaking the quilt, swish the water around the quilt and rub the material. This will help in mixing the detergent and removing dirt from the quilt fabric. Avoid rubbing vigorously near the stitched area as the thread may tend to snap due to wear and tear.

Rinsing and drying

  • Drain the water from the bathtub and squeeze the quilt fabric to remove excess water. Refill the bathtub with more water and rub the quilt gently to remove any retained detergent and dirt mixture. Rinse the quilt until the water runs our clear.
