Ready-made curtains

Whether you're updating the interior design of your home or have just moved in and need to do some decorating, there are many details to consider. From the furnishings and wall decorations to the rugs, home accessories and cushions that add character and comfort to a space.

And of course, there are also the curtains. Not only do these block out light and provide privacy, but they can also have a dramatic effect on how a room looks - in fact, they may even serve as a focal point in the room. So it's essential to get a set of curtains that's attractive as well as practical.

Here at Curtains and Curtains, we specialize in providing designer curtains that are sure to look good in your home. Our wide collection of high-quality products includes a variety of colors and fabrics, so you can be sure to find something perfect for your interior.

How to choose the perfect curtains

Ready-made curtains may seem like a fairly basic part of a room's decor, but there's actually a lot to think about if you want to get a set that complements the rest of the interior, while also serving their more practical purposes. Here are a few things to help you get started in making your decision:

Fabrics:

One of the first things you'll want to think about is the fabric - this not only means the colour, which is, of course, very important for your decor, but also the design and texture of the material.

For example, do you want your curtains to be made from a solid fabric, or something with a pattern, such as flowers, polka dots, stripes or an abstract design?

Meanwhile, the type of material will also have a bearing on the final appearance. Satin will provide a lovely sheen, while net curtains will let in loads of natural light, but won't offer much in the way of privacy.

Measuring:

Careful measurements are also essential when choosing ready-made curtains. Start by using a metal rule, ideally a tape measure, to check the length of the curtain pole. Exclude the length of the finials, but add approximately 2.5 cm to allow the curtains to overlap in the middle when they are closed.

Next, check the curtain length. If you're using a curtain track or eyelet curtains, measure from the top of the pole. If curtains will be suspended from rings, then measure from the bottom of the rings.

In most cases, sill-length curtains should hang to about 1.25cm from the sill, while curtains that fall below the sill should stop around 15cm under it. Floor-length curtains usually extend to around 1.5cm from the floor.

Headings

Finally, be sure to consider what type of curtain heading you most like the look of - this is the design of the top of the curtains - as each type will provide a different finished appearance.

One option is pencil headings, which are characterized by many small pleats and they usually hang from curtain rings.

Eyelet headings are another popular choice. These offer clean, simple lines for a modern appearance and are easy to install - the curtain pole simply weaves through the large eyelets.
